Sending a tape

Make a tape, seal it, then tap Send Tape to share its link, or Hand Over to give it to someone nearby with Handspun open. On iPhone Duo, closing the phone seals the tape.

Opening a tape someone sent you

Tap the link on an iPhone with Handspun installed and signed in to iCloud. It arrives in your inbox, still wrapped.

Why some songs only play a preview

Full songs need an Apple Music subscription. Without one, Handspun plays each song’s preview.

Reporting a tape or blocking someone

Open the tape, tap the ••• menu, and choose Report Tape or Block. Reporting takes the tape out of your inbox and tells us about it. We review every report within 24 hours and take down tapes that break the rules below. Blocking stops that person’s tapes reaching you, and you can unblock them in Settings.

Tape rules

No hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, or anything illegal, in a tape’s title, name, note or voice notes. There’s no tolerance for tapes that break these rules: they’re taken down. The full rules are in the Terms of Use.

Deleting a tape

Tapes sent to you: swipe one in your inbox, or use Edit. Tapes you made: choose Delete for Everyone, and its link stops working for everyone.
